Rejoice is Ireland’s newest gospel choir.

We are currently seeking vocalists with experience singing gospel, funk, soul or jazz to sing some authentic, old school gospel in a fun and friendly environment. If you want to be part of this vibrant group then fill out the form below to set up an audition.

Rehearsals take place Wednesdays, 7;30-9:30pm, Dublin City Centre.

Carmel Whelan - Conductor & Co-Director

Carmel is a multi-instrumentalist and conductor from North Dublin. She began learning traditional Irish music at a young age and fostered a love of singing as a member of RTÉ’s Cór na nÓg. She went on to study music at DIT Conservatory of Music & Drama, graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music in Composition. Carmel has since gone on to study choral music education with the Choral Music Institute and, in 2016, she undertook a choral internship with Greg Beardsell, artistic director of the Irish Youth Choir.

Carmel is the musical director of The High Hopes Choir, who featured in RTÉ’s award-winning documentary. She is the former musical director with Gardiner Street Gospel and continues to direct a number of choirs including the National Gallery of Ireland Choir; National Treasury Management Agency Choir; Dóchas Women’s Choir, and Mountjoy Prison, amongst others.

Carmel has performed in venues including The 3 Arena, The National Concert Hall, The Gaiety Theatre, The Olympia Theatre, Bord Gáis Theatre, Áras an Uachtarán, and the European Parliament, and has performed alongside critically acclaimed artists including Tigran Hamasyan & Arve Henrikson, The Script, Colm Wilkinson, Glen Hansard, Celine Byrne, Imelda May, John Sheehan, Christy Moore and the Savannah Philharmonic.

Bryan Mullen - Accompanist & Co-Director

Bryan is a pianist and musical director with experience working on musical theatre productions, choirs, and bands. He studied music in Newpark Music Centre, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Performance. He has performed in many notable venues both at home and abroad including the National Concert Hall, Olympia theatre, and the European Parliament.

Bryan regularly works on shows and in the last year has acted as Musical Director for Fatale Events (RDS & RHK) and the Promise Musical Drama (Fingal County Council); as Assistant Musical Director for the Olympia Pantomime (Spotlight, Pat Egan Management), Spring Awakening (Delaney Musical & Dramatic Society), and as pianist on Legally Blonde: The Musical (Oyster Lane Musical Society & Leixlip Musical Society). He also has experience working with choirs including The High Hopes Choir, An Cór Choir, Discovery Gospel Choir and The Choir of Ages.

Bryan has performed with many notable artists including Russell Watson, Linda Martin and Tony Christie. He also works regularly as a ballet accompanist and has played for Irish National Youth Ballet, Irish Modern Dance eatre, and Royal Academy of Dance Ireland.
